Strategic Air Command Bomb-Nav Competition 1976

Twentieth Annual Bombing and Navigation Competition/GIANT VOICE was conducted under a revised format divided into three phases. First phase was conducted between July and August by each participating CONUS-based wing at its home station. This first phase was an in-unit mini-competition to select the top three aircrews plus a “wild card” crew. Next phase was a semifinal round conducted between 27 and 30 September to select the top two crews. Also four RAF Vulcan aircraft and crews participated during this semifinal phase staging out of Barksdale AFB. Final round was conducted between 4 and 5 October, at each wing’s home station with the top two aircrews competing per wing and again the four RAF bombers flew the competition out of Barksdale. The Fairchild Trophy was taken by 380 BW (FB-111) (8 AF).
