Redesignated Meteorology Squadron THREE (VPM-3) on 15 Nov 1946; Heavy Patrol Squadron (Landplane) THREE (VP-HL-3) on 8 Dec 1947, the second squadron to be assigned the VP-HL-3 designation. Redesignated Patrol Squadron TWENTY THREE (VP-23) (3rd) “Seahawks” on 1 Sep 1948. Disestablished on 28 Feb 1995. Consolidated PB4Y-2M/ 2S Privateer Consolidated P4Y-2S Privateer Insignia (2nd) approved on 5 Mar 1953. USA made.
