Air Combat Evaluation - Air Intercept Missile Evaluation Joint Test Force
Air Combat Evaluation (ACEVAL) and Air Intercept Missile Evaluation (AIMVAL) were two back-to-back Joint Test & Evaluations which ran from 1974-78 at Nellis AFB. The USAF component was provided by the 57 TFW at Nellis; it flew the RED FORCE aircraft (F-5E simulating the MIG-21) and one of the BLUE FORCE aircraft (F-15A Eagle, bottom right on patch). The US Navy flew the other BLUE FORCE aircraft (F-14A Tomcat, bottom left on patch). Most of the tests were conducted in an 18-mo. period during 1976-77.
