Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1 (HC-1) Detachment 2 Established as Helicopter Utility Squadron ONE (HU-1) "Fleet Angels" 1 Apr 1948. Redesignated Helicopter Combat Support Squadron One (HC-1) on 1 Jul 1965. Disestablished on 29 Apr 1994. DET-2 was established in early 1973 to serve as the primary logistic/search and rescue unit for the USS Midway (CVA-41) and Carrier Air Wing 5 (CVW-5).
