Sikorsky HH-60D Nighthawk
|
The USAF Combat Rescue Night Hawk refers to a prototype for a U.S. Air Force Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) helicopter, the Sikorsky HH-60D Nighthawk, which was based on the Army's UH-60 Black Hawk. It was designed to perform solo rescue operations in combat zones, though it never entered full production. Today, the legacy of the Nighthawk is carried on by its successor, the HH-60W Jolly Green II, and its predecessor, the HH-60G Pave Hawk, which are used for personnel recovery in hostile and austere environments.
