UTILITY SQUADRON 5 (VU-5) Establshed as Utility Squadron FIFTEEN (VJ-15) at Brunswick , MA, on 23 Jun 1943, redesignated Utility Squadron FIVE (VU-5) on 15 Nov 1946. Disestablished in 1949. Reestablished as Utility Squadron FIVE (VU-5) on 16 Aug 1950. Redesignated Composite Squadron FIVE (VC-5) on 1 Jul 1965. Disestablished on 31 Aug 1992. Detachments: Naha, Okinawa, Japan; Taiwan; Philippines.
