US Military Patches

8th Airborne Command and Control Squadron
Official Significance: The emblem is symbolic of the unit and the Air Force colors, ultramarine blue and golden yellow, as well as the national colors, are used in the design. The color blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations, and yellow to the sun and excellence required of Air Force personnel in assigned tasks. The red background of the scroll alludes to the emblem of the Tactical Air Command. The white shield is used as a background for the internal symbols, and signifies that, as a military unit, we are guardians of the peace. The crossed lightning bolt and aircraft symbol indicate our airborne operations are in the electronic realm. The globe depicts the world-encompassing nature of our flight operations. APPROVED on 30 May 1973. Negative Number KE-52240.

This unit was active, as such, from 15 Oct 1969 to 30 Apr 1974, and again from 1 Jul 1994 to 15 May 1996, but this patch dates from the 1973-1974 period.
