Air Defense, Tactical Air Command (ADTAC) 
Active 1 Oct 1979 - 1 Oct 1985
 Established comparable to a Numbered Air Force under TAC. With this move many Air National Guard units that had an air defense mission also came under the control of TAC. ADTAC was headquartered at North American Aerospace Defense Command, Ent AFB Colorado. In essence, Tactical Air Command became the old Continental Air Command. Replaced by 1st Air Force at Langley AFB on 6 Dec 1985.
