Fighter Squadron 32 (VF-32) Established as Fighter Bomber Squadron THREE (VBF-3) on 1 Feb 1945. Redesignated Fighter Squadron FOUR A (VF-4A) on 15 Nov 1946; Fighter Squadron THIRTY TWO (VF-32) (2nd) on 7 Aug 1948; Strike Fighter Squadron THIRTY TWO (VFA-32) on 1 Nov 2005-. Insignia approved by CNO 20 April 1948. Unofficial insignia c. 1955-1956, US made, schiffli embroidery on twill. squadron nickname was "White Lightnin". In 1957 the squadron received the F8U Crusader and became the “Supersonic Swordsmen”. The Sword in lions hand began to appear after 1958. The Swordsmen nickname still remains.
