Airlift Communications Division

Military Airlift Command was the only unified/specified command with operational forces which were not supported by a dedicated communications area. Recent international crises to which the Military Airlift Command had responded, along with the worldwide scope of its mission, dictated the need for improved communications support. The establishment of an Airlift Communications Division with its headquarters at Scott AFB, Illinois, satisfied this need.
