Patrol Squadron 31 (VP-31) Detachment Alfa Established as Patrol Squadron THIRTY ONE (VP-31) "Genies" on 30 Jun 1960, the second squadron to be assigned the VP-31 designation. Disestablished on 1 Nov 1993. Lockheed P-3A/B Orion VP-31 Det Alpha was established at NAS Moffett Field, CA, with a primary mission to train pilots and aircrewmen for the advanced ASW aircraft the P-3.
