Operation PLUMBBOB Goodyear ZSG-3 airships participated in Operation Plumbbob nuclear tests from 28 May-7 Oct 1957 at the Nevada Test Site to investigate the minimum safe distance for a US Navy blimp dropping a W-34 "Lulu" nuclear depth charge. Four blimps were used during two tests, all were destroyed by the bomb shockwaves.
