Established as Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 241 (VMSB- 241) “Sons of Satan” on 1 Mar 1942.  Deactivated on 1 Aug 1945.

WW-II. VMSB-241 assigned to MAG-24, operated from Munda, Solomon Islands, later moved to Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, 22 Nov 1944. Provided direct support for ground operations in the Lingayen area and Central Luzon at the earliest practicable date after arrival on target.
