163d Tactical Fighter Squadron Federalized and ordered to active service as part of Operation Tack Hammer, 1 Oct 1961-7 Jun 1962, the US response to the Berlin Crisis, deployed to Chambley-Bussières AB, France. Assigned to 7122d Tactical Wing (Special Delivery), with 26 F-84F whose mission was to support Seventeenth Air Force and various NATO exercises in Europe, flying up to 30 sorties a day exercising with Seventh Army units in West Germany.
