10th Airborne Command and Control Squadron
|
Emblem Significance: Denotes the mission of the 10th ACCS in maintaining the worldwide communication and command function of the USCINCEUR Airborne Command Post. The dominant colors of ultramarine blue and golden yellow denote the official Air Force colors. The golden eagle, superimposed on the globe, represents the airborne link in the worldwide chain of communications with USCINCEUR. The red outline is representative of valor of the men of the squadron. APPROVED on 5 Oct 1970. Negative Number: KE-39834. (Source: AFHRA records)
Activated as the 10th Airborne Command Control Squadron on 1 Jan 1970. Subsequently redesignated 10th Airborne Command and Control Squadron (precise date unknown, but likely around the same time the 9 ACCS received its "and" - 15 Jul 1970). Inactivated 31 Jan 1992.
For reasons unknown to this collector, the ultramarine blue field and scroll are white on this version of the patch. (Is it just coincidence that the 9 ACCS also had a white version of their patch?)
