Patrol Squadron 9 (VP-9) Established as Patrol Squadron NINE (VP-9) on 15 Mar 1951, the second squadron to be assigned the VP-9 designation. Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer, 1951 Consolidated P4Y-2/2S Privateer, 1952 Lockheed P2V-2 Neptune, 1953-1960 Insignia (1st Design) approved on 11 Jul 1951, and remained in use until 1954.
