920th Air Refueling Squadron, Heavy Memorial A 920th AREFS KC-135 crashed while making an approach to land at Wurtsmith. All six flight crewmembers lost their lives. 10 others were injured. Members of an 8th Air Force Staff Assistance Visit team who were in the back of the aircraft managed to escape the burning wreckage.
